Biogeography and

I explore the evolution, ecology, and biogeography of species distributions, examining how small-ranged and endemic species evolve, survive, and react to environmental and landscape changes. I approach these questions in a variety of ways, integrating GIS, modelling, and machine learning methods.

Featured ResearchIn a paper recently published in Global Change Biology, I examined the global distribution of mammalian endemism (small-ranged species), linking patterns of endemism to ecological, evolutionary, and physiographic drivers. I found high endemism in regions with many species, stable climates, and rough topography, such as coastal ranges.
